Marisha Goldhamer is one the original verification editors for AFP Fact Check. In 2018 she was chosen to lead the fact-checking team for Canada and in 2023 promoted to Deputy Head of Digital Verification for North America. She works closely with journalists in Washington and Montreal to edit, write and translate articles about misinformation.
Marisha is also a key contributor to AFP’s social media presence, managing the AFP Fact Check Facebook page, Instagram account and WhatsApp Channel.
Marisha joined the multimedia desk in 2003, following two internships with AFP. From the Washington bureau she has helped to cover everything from presidential elections to Hollywood award shows to major sporting events like the World Cup and Olympics.
Marisha’s reporting has also appeared in The Orange County Register, Teacher Magazine, Pet Product News and Report, from the Student Press Law Center.
Marisha holds a BA in print journalism from American University and an MA in Communication from Johns Hopkins University.
